Tadhg has traveled/paddled/sailed around the world in many different countries. It all started when Tadhg was 13 years old and he happened to come across a kayak/canoe Slalom event in his hometown of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. It intrigued him enough to seek out paddling events to participate in once he had developed the skills. Tadhg joined his high school kayak club and started doing kayak races around the country of Ireland. Tadhg then went on to study and become an Outdoor Adventure Instructor and has since worked at outdoor adventure centers in Ireland, France, Australia, Alaska, and the UK. He has taught flat and moving water canoeing, whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, as well as sailing, mountaineering, and other outdoor adventure sports. Most recently before moving to Madison with Claire and joining the Rutabaga staff over three years ago, Tadhg sea kayak guided and built sailboats in Homer, Alaska. Tadhg also volunteers his time developing outdoor adventure enthusiasts and instructors with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hoofer Outing Club.
