Meet a Baga - Marit Haug & Ethan Scheiwe

Posted by Valerie Hein-Hamstra on 1/4/2015 to Weird & Interesting Stuff
Marit Haug

Marit was originally hired in 2006, but full time 2007.  Marit does all the receiving, product inventory, buying, and sales floor. Marit grew up paddling with her family, and has always loved the outdoors. She also found she really likes working with customers to find the right fit. She really gets to know some people, and it's fun to see them come back, and grow in the sport.

Marit does all the product maintenance and receiving at Canoecopia. She also helps at the Customer service desk. Marit has worked 10 Canoecopias already!

On a day off, Marit will hike if she is by herself, and of course canoe, especially in the Wausau area with her boyfriend. If Marit could paddle with anyone it would be Lewis and Clark, it was just such an epic journey. She would love to hear those stories first hand.

Ethan Scheiwe

Ethan has been working at Rutabaga since February 2011. Ethan receives and inventories all boats received at Rutabaga and works on the sales floor.

Throughout Canoecopia, Ethan is the head of Warehouse Operations. He leads a team that hand delivers every canoe, kayak, and SUP to the Alliant Energy Center from the Rutabaga warehouses in Monona. As of 2015, Ethan has worked four Canoecopia shows. Ethan finds it is busy and rewarding work. Plus, he gets to see a lot of old friends.

On his days off, Ethan spends a lot of time in the woods. If Ethan could go paddling with anyone, past or present, it would be J.R.R. Tolkien.
