Nancy Saulsbury
Nancy started in March 2001 as Director of Rutabaga Outdoor Programs. She has spent her career in outdoor and environmental education, working in nature centers, US Forest Service, National Park Service, Field Museum, and community college settings. It is a great challenge and a lot of fun to focus on paddling and to bring her experiences to a small business.
During Canoecopia, Nancy coordinates the Speaker Program, manages the Lobby Exhibit area, oversees the Rutabaga Outdoor Programs and Door County Sea Kayak Symposium booths, and is part of the core team that plans the event. Nancy has worked 14 shows (2001-2014) as a Rutabaga employee - 2015 will make it an even 15! Plus, she helped a friend with a booth for a few years prior to that. Her favorite part of Canoecopia is seeing so many people year after year! The relationships within the paddling community with customers, vendors and exhibitors is the best part! Second best is having the Speaker Program run smoothly and having show attendees enjoy and find value in the Speakers they go to hear.
When Nancy has a day off she enjoys time in her garden, catching up with friends, snowshoeing, canoeing, reading a good book, and drinking a good beer! If she could paddle with anyone, she would choose Sig Olsen, Aldo Leopold, and her BWCA tripping partner, Susan.
Amelia Musser
Amelia has worked at Rutabaga since 2009 and is currently the Youth Programs Coordinator for Rutabaga Outdoor Programs. She also help out on the sales floor. Amelia was first hired as an ROP instructor. She loves getting people excited about being outdoors. Finding a job in Madison teaching students how to have fun and be safe on the water was awesome.
Amelia's role at Canoecopia is to run the Rutabaga Outdoor Programs and Door County Sea Kayak Symposium booth. She helps people figure out which class is best for them and answers any questions they may have. Amelia has worked 5 Canoecopias, with the 2015 show being her 6th. Her favorite part is seeing all of the returning staff, friends, customers and reps - and meeting new people! She loves the excitement it brings out in everyone.
In her off time Amelia loves hanging with friends, going to see live music, and anything that involves being outside. When asked who she cold paddle with, she replied by saying "This is super tough!!! Today I’d say Jerry Garcia. Combining nature, paddling and music would be beautiful!"
