I ordered this paddle because it is made from a single piece of wood. I view that as functional art. It has been a joy to re-enter the sport, and to practice strokes. I paddle a solo canoe, and have other paddles available, but I find this one most satisfying to use. I ordered the oiled version, and was somewhat disappointed when it came, and had a varnished blade. Easy enough to fix just by sanding down the varnish, and oiling the blade. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with this paddle in the deep water.

Thanks to Badger for a great looking paddle and Rutabaga for great service. Now in Michigan, the water in the small lakes is icing over so my testing of the paddle will have to be done in the bath tub. Moved water very well. Would work better in deeper water. Thanks, Looking forward to spring and canoeing to put this paddle to good use.

After several hours paddling with my new Badger Tripper I can say, with confidence, it is everything I have been wishing for. What a wonderful paddle.
I will add that experienced, gifted paddle designer/manufacturers, like Mike and Fiona Ramsey, as well as modern, professional sales and customer service retail outlets like Rutabaga, who carry these fine products, deserve our highest appreciation.
Special thanks to customer service professionals, Holly R. and Tadhg who were so helpful.
Thanks again,
Mark L.

I'm extremely impressed with the paddle design and excited to be adding it to my paddle collection! Darren was extremely helpful in helping to select the right paddle over the phone and it is now the prettiest paddle I own. I look forward to learning to use it.
