More Info

All CCS tarps are now sewn utilizing 1.1 oz or 1.9 oz silicone coated nylon. Sil-nylon is lighter weight yet provides more than twice as much tear strength when compared to 1.9 oz urethane coated nylon.

-Silicone coating does not wet out like urethane coated nylons.
-Nylon tape around the perimeter with loops spaced every 20 to 24 inches around edges and along internal seams.
-The strongest construction and most versatile to set up.
-Seams are sewn with nylon thread, single needle lockstitched with double stitched lapped seams
-NO Grommets...which often fail at the worst times
-Pack cloth reinforcement in center with quad loops for securing a center pole
-Depending on the size of the tarp it is constructed from either 4 or 6 panels.
-Silicone treated nylon is stronger and lighter than urethane coated nylon.

CCS Tundra Tarps   rating
I recently bought a new Cooke Custom Sewing 10x14 1.9 oz. Tundra Tarp during the holiday sale. This is the second Tundra Tarp that I have. (15x15) I haven’t had a chance to use the new tarp but my son and I have used the original Tundra Tarp for about 5 years. We have used the Tundra Tarp as our main shelter for 3 summers. ( 75-90 days in the field) We have ridden out major storms with the tarp in the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verda, Mt Whitney, Oregon Coast, Steen Mtn. etc.We have a really nice tent but choose to use the tarp unless there are a lot of bugs. Here’s the deal it's one of the best pieces of equipment I have so I bought another one. I recommend the yellow as it makes the light under the tarp a little brighter. Helps at dusk and dawn. The ridge line bag is too small for the 15x15 tarp. You can get it in but it’s a pain. I do have poles and we do use them. We carry 200’ of ridge line and have used all of it once. We have other CCS products and I plan to add a Yellow/ White Lean 2 during the cornucopia discount. Finally a word about about Rutabaga and CCS both outstanding companies and people to deal with. I’m on the west coast I probably will never meet any of these people but they have taken care of me and have earned my business. Thanks Darren and Dan.
