A crossover kayak that truly excels in any water, the Katana was designed to inspire confidence in the paddler with a balanced rocker profile for speed on the flat and maneuverability in whitewater. The hull is designed for initial stability while the beveled and flared side-walls create secondary stability. The rounded stern deck shape, taken from the Mamba design, sheds water easily, making it forgiving in moving water. The Katana also offers a more spacious cockpit than traditional whitewater designs for a less confining feeling. Removable bulkheads and reinforced hatches offer unparalleled gear storage, while the drop skeg add speed and stability.
The 9.7 is perfect for smaller paddlers, or paddlers who do not need the added storage capacity of the larger model

I bought one of these after checking them out in person at Canoecopia. This past Spring, April, 2020, I bought another one from the store because my wife loved the one I bought so much that I couldn't get my turn with it, so I bought my own! We love the his-and-hers pair. Fit and finish, styling and all the smart design details have us sold. This thing is a highly versatile hybrid, with a solid drop-down skeg (others I checked out at Canoecopia looked/seemed flimsier). I just took this one through a day of class 1's, 2,s and a 3 recently, and it was solid. The skeg was great to have on the smooth, straight water and out of the way for the whitewater fun. Nice rocker in the hull design. The folks at the store and Canoecopia couldn't have been more intelligent, knowing and helpful. I love chatting and learning from them. Great boats. Great company!
