Amelia Musser
Outdoor Programs Director

I grew up in the Twin Cities where my parents introduced me to the wonders of nature on our numerous family camping trips and vacations to our National Parks. I got into paddling at YMCA Camp Icaghowan at the age of 9, which led to one of my best life experiences - a 28 day canoe trip in Ontario through YMCA Camp Menogyn. As a formative teenager, that trip expanded my physical and mental limits, encouraged me to live simply, instilled in me the importance of communication and responsibility, and deepened my connection to the natural world.

Since then I have pursued my love of the outdoors through experiential education - hoping to encourage personal growth and a love of nature in the people I work with. I graduated from UW Madison with a degree in Conservation Biology and have been a trail guide, a trail builder, a naturalist, a paddling instructor, the Outdoor Programs Coordinator here at Rutabaga, and now the Director of Outdoor Programs.  I am also the Canoecopia co-Coordinator and Speaker liaison.  Besides being in nature, I also love seeing live music, eating local food, drinking good beer, playing cards, and cheering for the MN Vikings (however difficult that may be at times). :)
