Tents, tarps, sleeping systems, and pads are the key to comfort (and survival). You can go without food for a few days, easy, but staying warm and dry are critical to outdoor success. Insulation from the ground (pad), cold air (bag or quilt), and weather from above (tent and/or tarp) are the basics. Make sure you match your season to your equipment.
