Fall Paddling in Wisconsin: Considerations & Destinations
We all know that fall is full of beauty, but timing is everything, too. One of the Miles Paddled guys, Timothy Bauer, will offer his favorite places to visit during "the canoe and kayak carnival" in between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, as well as practical tips to stay safe and have fun during this season of last huzzahs.
Black River Falls: Blue Ribbon Paddling
Nestled in the drive-thru country along I-94 between the Dells and the City of Eau Claire is the Black River Falls area of Jackson County, an unsung paradise for paddlers coming for thrilling rapids, quiet saunters, sandbar camping, state forests, ancient rock outcrops, and so much more. Featuring five of the finest streams anywhere in Wisconsin -- from Halls Creek to the Black River's East Fork, and conditions ranging from quietwater to a Class IV whitewater gorge -- there's something for everyone. Come get "a taste of the Northwoods only two hours away" with local enthusiast Timothy Bauer (aka one of the Miles Paddled guys) for where and when to go and what to expect.

Sea Kayaking in Baja California
From the red rocks and turquoise water of Espiritu Santo Island to the grey whales of Magdalena Bay, Darren will tell you of his trip with a group of friends to Baja California, a kayaker's paradise. Clear water, tropical fish, sea lion pups, and baby whale calves are all part of the package. Baja is so much more than resorts and bachelor parties. The people are warm and friendly, the food is excellent (and cheap), and the wildlife is abundant.

Drive less, paddle more: How to boost your time on the water by paddling locally
John Stofflet will share the story of how he went from never kayaking to paddling more than 1,500 miles in 2025 at age 64.
His presentation focuses on boosting your time on the water by spending less time driving and more time paddling, turning your attention to your local waterways. Here in the Madison area, that means waterways like the Yahara River downtown, Starkweather Creek, Turtle Creek, and the four lakes.
Think like a runner, and just get out for a paddle like you would for a jog!
